When you truly love fabric – and I KNOW you do – you simply can’t toss away those beautiful bits and pieces; you have to make ‘em into something fabulous! So for this month’s Triple Play quilt tutorial, Jenny and the girls have whipped up 3 great crumb piecing projects.

I put together a patchworky rainbowy panel with the crumb blocks I was playing with the other day. You can read about it here.

In an uncharacteristic frenzy of cleaning and decluttering of my sewing room, I went through my scrap tubs and finished sorting the pieces into the different coloured bags, tossing the really small pieces into the bin as I went. By the end of the afternoon, my scraps were (mostly) nicely organised and I had a bin full of little pieces to throw out.

Quilters are some of the most resourceful, green people we know! We are always saving up scraps and asking other quilters for ways we can reduce, reuse, and recycle quilting and sewing materials. We never want to throw anything away if we don’t have to!

In recognition of Earth Day and being green, here are a few ways that we choose to reduce, reuse, and recycle to demonstrate our support for the environment!

 Hello everyone!

We all have scraps in boxes and bins, don't we? Tell me if you don't have scraps! I am no exception! I find it very hard to throw pieces that actually can be used. I cut squares in sizes from 1.5 up to 5 inches. I have done pretty well with 1.5 and 2.5 inches, but the other sizes are still in boxes. 

For some years, I have saved HST's, 1.5 inches strips, error and leftover blocks. The idea was to make a scrappy HST quilt, but.... I love HST quilts ...
